Welcome to The National Currency Foundation. Our website went live on November 26, 2012. Many aspects of the site are still in development. We welcome any and all feedback or question you may have.

While we do not yet have a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), a few important points are listed below. As specific questions are asked with some frequency, we will list them here.

1) Images contained in the NCF website come from Museums, Corporate Archives, and private collectors ("virtual donors") who have given us permission to use them for virtual exhibits. Our virtual donors have agreed to present their images of bank notes and currency-related ephemera without the use of otherwise intrusive watermarks.

Should you reproduce any images contained on our website, for any publication or presentation (in printed, electronic, or any other medium), NCF asks that you cite us as the source of the image. Images identified as coming from a specific museum, archive, or collection should include the original source.

For example, the use of any images identified as coming from the National Numismatic Collection at the Smithsonian Institution should be cited as "Image Courtesy of the Smithsonian Institution."

2) The vast majority of our images have been scanned at 800dpi. During the image editing phase, we level the image based on the design, not the edge of the paper. Some notes were routinely cut from sheets by hand (e.g., National Bank Notes). As a result the margins can be uneven, giving the appearance that the note is not level.
